Grimner
Sweden’s vikings Grimner deliver a unique mixture of folk and metal, melding Scandinavian folk music, Gothenburg-style death metal, classic heavy metal and more into their own unique sound. With their dynamic, captivating music and energetic live shows, they have taken enthusiasts of many genres by storm. Singing in their native tongue, of Norse gods, history and Swedish folklore, Grimner promises a musical journey into fantastical realms of a time long past - both live and on record.
In 2008, Grimner was created in the small Swedish town of Motala. Throughout the years, Grimner has grown to a strong group of six members. The first demo “A Call For Battle” (2010) was sung explicitly in English but was soon to be replaced by Swedish on their first EP "Färd" (2012). As time progressed and their debut album Blodshymner (2014) was released, Grimner steadily made a name for themselves in the folk metal scene and beyond.
In 2016, Grimner released their album “Frost Mot Eld” (Despotz Records), a record that launched the band to greater heights. The album received outstanding reviews world-wide, with songs that to this date have reached millions of streams. The album set Grimner's signature sound in stone and saw them touring on stages all over Europe.
In 2018 the band celebrated their 10th anniversary and released the album ”Vanadrottning” (Despotz Records). This album gave a fresh touch to their sound, with new musical influences being explored.
Grimner's latest album "Urfader" was then released in 2022, and was a labour of literal blood, sweat and tears. With a new production brought by the acclaimed Top Floor Studios, the band once again explored new ground to expand their musical soundscapes, while keeping true to their unique style.
And so, with new plans in the making and no intention of slowing down, the story continues...
